Love story , tome 1 : Anatomy

Édimbourg, 1817.

Hazel est une jeune aristocrate à l'avenir tout tracé. Promise à un cousin, son rôle est de se préparer à devenir une épouse dévouée et soumise. Pourtant, Hazel rejette cette fatalité. Passionnée de médecine et aspirante chirurgienne, elle décide de braver les interdits liés à son sexe et à sa classe sociale pour suivre en secret des cours d'anatomie.

C'est alors qu'elle fait la rencontre de Jack, un voleur de cadavres travaillant pour le compte de l'université où elle étudie. À ses côtés, elle se sent plus libre et audacieuse que jamais. Et quand elle découvre que certains grands chirurgiens et membres de l'aristocratie réalisent d'étranges expériences sur les cadavres, elle décide de mener l'enquête...

On se retrouve aujourd'hui pour ma revue s'agissant du livre Anatomy. Dans ce premier tome, nous suivons l'histoire d'Hazel, interne en médecine et dont le rêve est de devenir chirurgienne un jour. Problème : la société secrète des anatomistes qu'elle souhaite intégrer n'est ouverte qu'aux hommes.

L'écriture de Dana Shwartz est très fluide, c'est un livre que j'ai lu assez rapidement. L'histoire était prenante et j'ai vraiment apprécié la détermination et le courage dont faisait preuve Hazel afin de poursuivre ses rêves sans oublier ses valeurs.

J'ai beaucoup aimé le fait de me retrouver propulsée à Edimbourg dans les années 1807, ayant une appétence pour les romans historiques. Mention spéciale pour l'univers médical également.

Une suite est annoncée pour 2023 en version anglaise. Je n'ai pas encore de visibilité quant à la sortie du second tome en France. Mais il est certain que j'aimerais beaucoup lire la suite !

DGA, ASC e USC Awards 2020: a 1917 regia e fotografia, a Piccole donne sceneggiatura

Nella notte tra sabato e domenica sono stati assegnati a Los Angeles i premi del sindacato dei registi, dei direttori della fotografia, dei responsabili del sonoro e degli sceneggiatori. A trionfare, nelle prime due categorie, è stato 1917, con Sam Mendes e Roger Deakins che sono stati incoronati i migliori nel loro campo, forti anche di una prova incredibile nella realizzazione del film sulla Prima Guerra Mondiale.

Musica diversa, è il caso di dirlo, per quello che riguarda invece il miglior sonoro, che è stato invece conquistato da Le Mans ’66, il film di James Mangold che in questo modo alza la voce e palesa anche qualche chance per gli Oscar 2020.

Il sindacato degli sceneggiatori ha invece deciso di premiare le donne e il loro splendido lavoro in questa stagione di intrattenimento, in tv e al cinema. Greta Gerwig per Piccole Donne e Phoebe Waller Bridge per Fleabag sono state premiate nelle rispettive categoria. In questo modo, la Gerwig, potrebbe anche sperare in un posto nel palmares dei prossimi Oscar 2020.
